In this 30-day challenge, you’ll build your figure drawing and painting skills one video lesson at a time, guided by a diverse group of accomplished artists.

In graphite, ink, and watercolor, this challenge will stretch your abilities and deepen your understanding of the human form. We’ll explore:

Gesture and movement—capturing the energy of the pose
Anatomy for artists—learning key landmarks, muscles, and skeletal forms
Proportions of the standing, seated, and reclining figure

Figure It Out with Six Inspiring Teachers

David Tenorio (Sktchy, Instagram) is an illustrator and art instructor in the Bay Area, California. He has taught art for 15+ years to students of all ages, including serving as an art mentor to clients at Pixar, Disney and SF Film.

Additionally, David has helped place numerous high school students at the nation's leading art programs including Art Center, CalArts and RISD. His specialties include sketchbook techniques, figure drawing and entertainment design.

Juan Perednik (Sktchy, Instagram) is an Argentinian graphite artist who uses his grasp of classical drawing techniques to bend artistic “rules” and bring his imagination to life on the page.

“Drawing,” he says, “is the most sincere form of art and the foundation for working in any other medium.” His “obsession” with drawing in pencil has led to commercial work for celebrity clients like Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and earned him a passionate fanbase of 40,000+ followers on Instagram.

Justin Maas (Sktchy, Instagram) is a Canadian portrait artist who has been working professionally for more than 20 years. He is best known for his “famous faces” series of portraits on Instagram, where he posts daily drawings of your favorite celebrities for his 400,000+ followers.

A multi-award winning artist, Justin is a Senior Signature Member of the Federation of Canadian Artists (SFCA), an Elected Member of the Society of Canadian Artists (SCA) and the author of Drawing Realistic Pencil Portraits Step by Step from Penguin Random House.

Milena Guberinic (Sktchy, Instagram) is a Serbian-born, Canada-based visual artist whose watercolor work explores memory, perception, and emotion. With a background in psychology, Japanese studies, and fashion design, she developed her largely self-taught practice through independent study and mentorship, favoring an intuitive, sketch-free approach that embraces imperfection.

Her work has been widely exhibited and internationally recognized, including features in Splash 26: Best of Watercolor and Artists Magazine. She illustrates for fantasy publications, teaches workshops on expressive technique and strong fundamentals, and serves as the Ontario Representative for the International Watercolor Society Canada.

Pedro Loureiro (Sktchy, Instagram) is an architecture illustrator from Lisbon, Portugal. A lifelong sketcher inspired by comic books, he uses ink and watercolor to tell stories of people, places, and everyday life.

Deeply involved in the Urban Sketchers community since its early days, he teaches workshops worldwide and leads The Wedding Sketchers, a live sketching group.

Pedro believes sketching from life sharpens perception, and that anyone can learn to draw. His work captures fleeting moments—whether at dinner parties, family gatherings, or city streets—turning them into lasting visual memories.

Tiffany S. DaVanzo (Sktchy, Instagram) is a professional medical illustrator specializing in art for medical publications, education and the medical legal field.

She is a graduate of the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Art as Applied to Medicine Program, and a member of the Association of Medical Illustrators since 2001.

Tiffany lives in East Tennessee with her husband and two daughters.
