LESSON 1: SADNESS
This lesson's a tear-jerker. You'll learn about the anatomy of the eye, and Tiffany will teach you how to draw tears and glistening eyes to create a portrait of sadness. 

You'll also learn a a technique for creating those post-weep mascara smudges.

Anger is not only stressful to experience – it can also be stressful to draw, as it activates many facial muscles while contorting the face into a snarl. In this lesson, you'll learn about this underlying muscular activity and how to draw the way it stretches and wrinkles the skin while creating a portrait of anger.

You'll also learn about the anatomy of the hands so you can include them in your angry portraits as another symbol of fury.

What tools do I need to take this class?

This class does not have any required materials, as you can apply the lessons to any medium. That said, here are the materials that Tiffany uses in the videos:

  • Hand mirror (so you can look at your own facial expressions for reference)
  • Drawing, mixed media or watercolor paper
  • Variety of graphite pencils, water soluble graphite pencils, charcoal, pastels
  • Eraser, opaque white for highlights
  • Procreate, Photoshop or another drawing app that has layers

    If you are using digital tools, then you will want a drawing app that has layers (Procreate, Photoshop, etc.) and a hand mirror.
